Misaligned teeth affect 60–75% of adults in developed countries. Treatment depends on severity: mild cosmetic cases can be addressed with veneers (fastest, no braces); orthodontic cases require Invisalign or fixed braces (6–24 months); severe skeletal issues require orthognathic surgery. Invisalign costs $1,500–$3,500 abroad versus $4,000–$8,000 in the US. Veneers cost $150–$350 each in Turkey.

What is Crooked Teeth & Misalignment?
Dental malocclusion (misalignment) is classified by Angle's classification: Class I (normal jaw relationship, dental crowding or spacing); Class II (overbite — upper jaw protrudes); Class III (underbite — lower jaw protrudes). Severity ranges from mild aesthetic concerns (treatable with veneers) to severe functional problems requiring orthodontics or surgery. The choice of treatment depends on whether the problem is dental-only (teeth position) or skeletal (jaw position).
Veneers can cosmetically improve the appearance of mild crookedness — they cannot move teeth. They work by reshaping the visible surface with ceramic to create visual alignment. This is appropriate only for minor aesthetic concerns where the bite is healthy. For actual tooth malalignment (crowding, gaps, overlapping), orthodontic treatment (Invisalign or braces) is required to physically move teeth to their correct position. Attempting to fix significant crowding with veneers requires excessive tooth reduction and risks pulp damage.
Can I do Invisalign abroad in Turkey in one trip?
Invisalign requires multiple appointments over 6–18 months — it cannot be completed in a single trip. However, some Turkish clinics offer a 'Invisalign abroad' package: initial scanning and aligner fabrication on first visit; aligners shipped to your home country; remote check-ins via photos every 6–8 weeks; finishing appointment at the end. This hybrid model works for straightforward cases. Alternatively, fixed ceramic braces can be placed in Turkey and monitored locally, with a final removal visit to Turkey.
Is it safe to get braces or veneers in Turkey?
Yes, at accredited dental clinics. Turkey has over 15,000 registered dentists and hundreds of prosthodontists specialising in cosmetic dentistry. Key quality markers: prosthodontist (not general dentist) for veneers; orthodontist board-certified for braces/Invisalign; clinic with dental CT (for veneers requiring preparation); use of certified E-max or Ivoclar Vivadent materials (verifiable by certificate). Avoid walk-in 'smile makeover' operations without proper bite analysis and digital smile design.
