Yeditepe University Healthcare Institutions were founded in 2005 under the aegis of the Istanbul Education and Culture Foundation (ISTEK) and Yeditepe University. The group encompasses multiple facilities: Kozyatağı Hospital (190 beds, general multi-specialty), Koşuyolu Hospital (180 beds, specialization center), Dental Hospital (120 units, 3 operating rooms, Turkey's first dental hospital), Eye Health Center, Genetic Diagnosis Center, Complementary Medicine Center, and Tissue Typing Laboratory. The Koşuyolu Hospital, opened in 2017, is the world's first antimicrobial hospital — all surfaces are coated with a patented boron-based microbicide developed in Yeditepe University laboratories, achieving a target of zero hospital-acquired infection spread. The hospital features an agonic (curved) architecture, the first of its kind used in a Turkish hospital, and is also Turkey's first "smart hospital" with integrated control systems. The Advanced Neurosurgery Center is internationally renowned, led by Prof. Gazi Yaşargil — widely regarded as the "neurosurgeon of the century" — and Prof. Uğur Türe. The center specializes in brain tumors (adults and children), pioneering epilepsy surgery methods, Parkinson's disease treatment, spinal cord diseases, brain and spinal cord vascular diseases (aneurysms, cavernomas, arteriovenous malformations), and peripheral nerve surgery. The neurosurgery operating room features a 3 Tesla Intraoperative MRI with proprietary software that reduces MRI scan time from 24 minutes to 4 minutes. The Bone Marrow Transplantation Center handles both adult and pediatric transplants — one of few centers in Turkey offering pediatric bone marrow transplantation. The Organ and Biological Tissue Transplantation Center performs heart, liver, kidney, and cornea transplants, with liver transplant outcomes registered in the Common European Liver Transplantation Database and an 80% success rate. The Tissue Typing Laboratory, licensed by the Ministry of Health since 2013, provides high-resolution molecular tissue typing for kidney, liver, bone marrow, and stem cell transplantation. Yeditepe University Dental Hospital is Turkey's first dental hospital with 200 staff, 120 dental units, and 3 operating rooms capable of procedures under general anesthesia. It holds CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) accreditation — the first in Europe — meaning its diplomas are recognized in all countries that accept US dental degrees. Additional firsts include: Turkey's first permanent artificial heart pump operation, transplantation of bone with vessels using the patient's own body without requiring knee prosthesis, Turkey's first bioabsorbable stent project, and first double balloon endoscopy. The hospital also operates a licensed hospital-based blood bank (the only one in Turkey) and offers telemedicine capabilities for remote second opinions. The hospital became the first Turkish University Hospital Group to receive JCI accreditation in 2007, renewed in 2010, 2014 (including Academic Medical Center standards), 2017, and most recently in 2022 under JCI Version 8 Academic Medical Center standards. Additional certifications include ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management, ISO 15189 Medical Laboratories accreditation, WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital designation, and International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Health (2020). The medical school holds TEPDAD/UTEAK full accreditation until 2026. Advanced diagnostic technology includes 3 Tesla MRI, multislice CT, PET-CT, Gamma Camera, and HPLC/Tandem MS laboratory equipment. The MedicaTürk international patient department provides comprehensive support including multilingual assistance, airport transfers, accommodation, visa assistance, and post-treatment follow-up with home doctors.
