About IMO Grupo Miranza Barcelona

IMO Grupo Miranza Barcelona — the Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular — is one of Spain and Europe leading ophthalmology centers, founded in 1990 with the vision of creating a center of excellence dedicated exclusively to eye care. Now part of the Miranza group (Spain largest ophthalmology network), IMO Barcelona maintains its position as a reference center for complex ocular pathologies and advanced surgical techniques. The institute brings together over 40 ophthalmologists specializing in every subspecialty of eye medicine, supported by a team of optometrists, orthoptists, and ophthalmic technicians. Clinical departments cover refractive surgery (LASIK, SMILE, ICL), cataract surgery with premium IOLs, medical and surgical retina, glaucoma management, cornea and external diseases, oculoplastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, and neuro-ophthalmology. IMO Barcelona is equipped with the most advanced ophthalmic technology available, including femtosecond laser systems, intraoperative OCT, adaptive optics, wide-field retinal imaging, and corneal cross-linking platforms. The institute operates its own eye bank for corneal transplantation and has a dedicated low-vision rehabilitation unit. The IMO Research Foundation conducts pioneering research in gene therapy for inherited retinal diseases, artificial retina development, and stem cell applications in ophthalmology. International patients from over 70 countries receive care through a dedicated department offering services in English, French, Arabic, Italian, and Portuguese, with comprehensive pre-arrival telemedicine consultations and streamlined surgical planning.
